December is known as the month of giving. Below are 25 Days of Christmas Giving, or ways of adding Christ into the lives of others by serving those around you this December.

December is month where many thoughts are turned toward a tiny baby of Bethlehem who gave so much to the world. We are reminded of His birth, His life and His ministry during this season of giving and receiving. Let us turn our hearts to giving as the Savior does…Here are 25 ideas of ways to add Christ into the lives of others as you serve those around you this Christmas.

Christmas Giving

This post is all about 25 Days of Christmas Giving.

1. Christmas Giving: Adopt a family this Christmas.

Buy gifts for a family in need whose house recently burnt down or who have been going through a hard time. Try and figure out some items they might need, then wrap them up and place it on their doorstep.

2. Ring the bells for the Salvation Army or donate money to their kettles.

Donate your time at the Salvation Army by ringing the bells at different destination in your community. If this doesn’t work for you schedule, consider donating money into the kettles instead. Go HERE to register a time to ring the bells.

3. Volunteer to babysit kids so their families can go Christmas shopping.

There are many young families that can’t afford babysitters. Think about babysitting for these families’ kids so the parents can go Christmas shopping together to find present for their kids.

4. Share a spiritual message about Jesus with others on social media.

Spread the love Christ has for everyone. Go on social media and share a message about how Christ has showed His love to us. Encourage others to spread that love to everyone they meet today.

5. Send Christmas cards or packages to friends, family, military personnel and/or missionaries.

Christmas time can be lonely for people who are away from family. Think about sending a package to a missionary or someone in the military who are away from their loved ones this Christmas. Send messages of appreciation for their service, with some goodies and gifts. Also, send a card to family and friends wishing them a Merry Christmas with an update on how your family is doing. People like to connect with other people this time of year, and this is a good time to do so.

6. Christmas Giving: Donate toys to the Children’s Hospital.

Hospitals are always in need of toys, especially to give to children who are in the hospital around Christmas time. See if you can volunteer at the hospital to help give out the toys you donated to the sick kids and see their face light up as they receive one.

7. Share an inspirational Christmas story about your life with others.

Share Christmas traditions and stories that have been important to you in your life. This would be good to share some of these stories with your family or write them down with pictures so your kids will always have them. Let others share their stories and traditions with you as well.

8. Christmas Giving: Donate money to a local charity.

Research a local charity that might mean something to you. Donate money or your time to help them out. Try to get involved with this charity in any way you can to help out this cause.

9. Do something nice for a teacher or mentor today or read a book to your child’s class.

Think of someone who has mentored you in your life like a coach or a teacher. Show your appreciation for them and do something nice to recognize their impact on your life. Another idea is to go to your child’s classroom and read book to their class. Contact the school to see if this is a possibility or what you need to do to volunteer.

10. Organize a Christmas party with friends for a nearby nursing home.

Gather some of your friends and plan a Christmas party with food, games and other activities for a nearby nursing home in the community. This will bring a lot of joy to the older community and help you connect with them.

11. Put together a Christmas puzzle with someone who is older and living by themselves.

Take some time out of your schedule to spend with an older family member or friend who is living by themselves. Do a puzzle together or some other activity that the older person would like to do.

12. Donate time and/or food to a food pantry or to a family in need. 

Find a local food pantry that you can donate food and help serve the community in some way. Another option is to find a family in need of food and shop for them with basic items they need and drop it off at their door.

13. Start the 12 Days of Christmas for someone who could use extra love this year.

Choose a family who could use some cheering up or in need of some extra love this Christmas season. Organize with your family to do the 12 days of Christmas and come up with creative ideas that go with the 12 Days of Christmas song.

14. Support a local business by buying a gift card or gift there to give to someone in need.

Help a local business who is just starting up and buy gift cards from them that you can give to other families in need.

15. Christmas Giving: Organize a Christmas baking and recipe swap.

Invite other families in your neighborhood to participate in a baking swap at your home. Have each person bring enough cookies along with the recipe of how ever many people that are planning to attend.

16. Make homemade gifts or ornaments to give to neighbors, friends & family for Christmas.

Along with your family, make homemade Christmas ornaments to give to your neighbors, families and friends as Christmas presents this year. This shows that you put a lot of time and love into the gift. If you don’t have time to make a gift, they will appreciate anything you give them and that you thought of them this Christmas.

17. Think of a single parent & invite their kids over to do a craft while the parent runs errands.

Help a single parent out this Christmas. Have the kids over to do a Christmas craft so the parent can go shopping or just relax by taking a nap. Think of other ways you can help this parent out this Christmas.

 18. Bake cookies with your family and take some to your friends and neighbors.

Have your family gather to bake and decorate Christmas cookies to take over to your neighbors and close friends.

19. Decorate someone’s door like a gift with a message telling them they are a gift to you.

Choose someone that is important in your life and go decorate their door like a present with a bow. Write a message to add to the gift wrap that let’s this person know they are a gift in your life. You can also add a real gift near the door.

20. Have a Cultural night & get to know different ways people celebrate the holidays.

Host a cultural night at your house or a nearby church with different cultures to be represented. Have people share traditions and holidays they do around December along with food they eat and the recipe. Make it a fun night celebrating different cultures.

21. Give a card, a small gift and/or leave goodies for the mail courier.

Thank your mail couriers for all the long hours they put in December to get mail and packages to you. Leave small gifts or goodies for them at the mailbox or front door.

22. Christmas Giving: Support a local concert or play and take a friend.

Go to a local concert or play that you can support and take a friend. Help promote the play or concert by telling others about it.

23. Go caroling with some friends to brighten some faces today.

Organize a caroling night with friends to sing Christmas songs to ten people’s homes. Take goodies with you to give to the families you sing to.

24. Give 3 gifts to someone special in your life like the Three Wise Men gave to Jesus.

Choose someone to give 3 gifts to like Jesus received from the Three Wise men. Have them be spiritual in nature or related to the gifts Jesus received.

25. Christmas Giving: Give a gift to Jesus.

Give Jesus a gift. Write down one way you will serve like Jesus for others this next year as your gift to Jesus.

Other ideas for Christmas Giving: Show appreciation for healthcare workers in your area today. Serve someone who has served you this past year.  Plan a hot chocolate bar and invite the neighbors over to get to know them better. Organize a service project for a family in need or do service around your house. There are so many ways you can serve others this December like Jesus has served the world.
