Looking for some great April Fools’ ideas that will actually leave people feeling great afterwards? Check out these harmless pranks that will actually bring people together with laughter and fun. As an avid prankster myself, here are some of my tested and neighbor approved prank ideas.
April Fools’ is a great day to prank people, but it’s also a great day to prank them with service. These are simple ideas, that won’t leave anyone angry at you, and looking for revenge. You can do these pranks on anyone, and leave them with a smile.
Be prepared with these service ideas, when April Fools’ arrives!
This post is all about April Fools ideas that are actually service.
1. Brown E’s
This is such an easy idea. Cut out a bunch of alphabet letter “E’s” from brown construction paper, and put them in a pan or on a plate. Cover them in tinfoil, and bring them to your neighbor. Get it, brown E’s? This is sure to make them laugh. After the laughing is over, hand them an actual plate of brownies. It’s a prank that ends sweet! For some extra added fun, leave the plate of brown E’s on their porch, and hide hide around the corner to watch the fun play out. Then deliver the yummy treat. Check out this article HERE for some “E” templates to cut out.
2. Fake Cake
I’ve been to a party or two, where someone was pranked by this clever idea. For this prank, you are going to take a yellow sponge, or some craft foam, and decorate it with frosting and sprinkles. Bring your “cake” to a party, or a friend, and then try not to laugh when someone tries to cut the cake. To be nice, you can give them a slice of real cake after.
Bonus Idea: One of my siblings put green mint toothpaste inside of an Oreo, and fooled a few people at our family party. Some people actually didn’t notice and thought it tasted good, but everyone was cracking up when we discovered what those Oreos were actually made from.
3. Texting Prank
Text someone a GIF of the “typing” dots prank. Your friend will then be waiting for a message that will never arrive. Wait for them to respond, and if they don’t after an hour or so, text them the gif again. Keep doing it until they say something. Once they finally figure out your prank, text them something nice to show them you care.
4. Fill Bedroom with Balloons
This is the “put balloons in their office or bedroom” prank. This can be incredibly inconvenient for your victim, but at least popping balloons will be fun for them, right?. If you want to be even more inconvenient, put confetti in the balloons, so when they pop the balloons, it makes a mess out of their room. How is this service? They will feel loved that you cared enough about them to do this harmless prank.
To make blowing up the balloons so much easier, get your electric balloon pump HERE.
5. Breakfast Prank
Make breakfast for someone using apple slices, peaches and yogurt to look like an egg and French fries. Check out this video tutorial HERE. This is a simple breakfast that would be fun for any age, especially kids. It is so easy to make, and tastes great.
6. Computer Mouse Prank
This is the “tape something to the bottom of their computer mouse, making it useless” prank. You can just use a piece of tape if you want, or you can tape a picture of yourself on there, how funny would that be? You could also tape “April Fools’ Day” to the bottom, or whatever you want. The idea is to make sure you cover up the laser on the bottom of the mouse, and then the mouse won’t work at all. They will only need to pull the tape off, after they discover what is going on, to get their mouse fully functional again. Give it a try, because it’s hilarious!
7. Fun April Fools Dinner
This is such a fun idea that we do with our children each year, and every year they look forward to it! It’s not actually a prank, but a silly dinner that we serve every April Fools’s Day. We typically do spaghetti and meatballs. Basically, invite someone over for dinner, and have them order from your menu. HERE is the menu that we use, but there are so many options out there of different menus. We do a three course meal.
So in the first course, they will order three things, for example, someone might order “Elsa, Belle, and Rapunzel”. Everyone typically orders different things. They won’t actually know that they are ordering, because the menu is coded. Then you bring them the things they ordered. For example, Elsa might be ice cubes, and Ariel might be a fork, and Rapunzel might be spaghetti. You can code it however you want. So every person will get different things during the first course. Some people might not get any utensils, and some might get dessert first. It is a fun way to get people together while sitting and laughing around the table. Even my teenage son enjoys it. 🙂
HERE is another menu example that would be a great April Fools’ idea.
8. Flamingo Their Yard
How funny would it be to wake up to find out that your front yard has been taken over by pink flamingos?! Plastic flamingos can be a little pricey, so you could see if any companies in your area will let you rent them, and set them up for you, or go ahead and grab some HERE. Maybe you could add to them each year? This is a funny prank, but also will beautify your neighbor’s yard for a day.
9. Decorate Their Car
There are so many ways to decorate someone’s car for April Fools’ Day. This is an actual picture of when I helped my friend decorate her husband’s car the night before April Fools’ Day. We had so much fun putting sticky notes all over it, and he awoke to quite a funny surprise. This one looks like a pinata, but there are so many ways you can decorate their car. Check out more ideas HERE.
10. Caution Tape Their House
I actually did this one year, when I was asking a boy to a dance. I grabbed some caution tape from Home Depot, and threw it all over the trees and bushes, and wrapped it around light posts and care. Then I outlined my body on the ground with chalk and said, “I’d die and go to heaven if you’d go to the dance with me.” It was so much fun. You could do this to a neighbor and leave a nice message, with some treats. It’s a simple clean up, not like toilet papering, because the caution tape doesn’t rip apart, so it pulls off of everything really easily. This is one of the best April Fools’ ideas!
11. Hang a Picture of Their Face Everywhere
For this simple idea, just print out a picture of someone’s face, make copies, and then hang their picture everywhere. If you work with them, hang it all over the office. If they are a nieghbor, you could hang it all over the outside of their house, or if you have access to get inside, then hang it all over inside their home. How funny would that be? My friends and I used to do this to each other when we were in high school. It was so embarrassing, but made us feel loved at the same time.
12. Box of Things They Hate
This is a hilarious idea, but you really have to know the person. For this idea, you are going to give them a box titled, “All your favorite things in the world,” but you are actually going to give them a box full of things they hate! You may need to prepare for this one for a few months, and write down anything the person complains about, so you know what they don’t like. Include foods they hate, pictures of animals they don’t like, and pet peeves they may have. For example, if they hate cleaning toilets, throw in a toilet bowl brush or cleaner. If they hate spiders, throw in a plastic spider. Is there a specific holiday that bugs them, include something from that, or a restaurant they don’t like, grab a gift card from that restaurant.
Get creative! They will appreciate the fact that you pay attention and know so much about them, even if the box is everything they DON’T like!
Pranking someone can show someone that you care about them enough to put the effort into pranking them. Be prepared with these fun service idea pranks, for the next time April Fools’ arrives!
